Building a sustainable future and making a difference
Where are we?
Our total Scope 1 and 2 emissions are 1.9 Mt CO2e, calculated according to the ISO 14064 standard with base year 2021.
These emissions are distributed among our four business units
1,690 kt CO2e
2 kt CO2e
191 kt CO2e
34 kt CO2e
In light of the challenge of climate change, and in order to move towards a future with lower emissions, Drummond has adopted a strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This strategy includes implementing technology and solutions to reduce and offset direct CO2e emissions in all our business units’ operations. We will also work with suppliers and customers to reduce and offset our indirect emissions.
How do we do it ?
1
We are aware of the challenge of climate change and the importance of achieving carbon neutrality.
2
We measure the footprint of our direct CO2e emissions using the ISO-14064 standard.
3
We have assessed the risks of climate change in light of all our stakeholders.
4
We established governance in our Organization that helps us manage our strategy.
5
We have and will continue to identify and implement technology and solutions to reduce and offset emissions.
6
We monitor and control metrics to demonstrate our progress towards carbon neutrality.
7
We create and execute a communications plan where we present our commitment and progress to our stakeholders.
Our path to Carbon Neutrality
Reduction CO2 Emission
We are convinced that we are part of a viable and sustainable future in a low-emission world. That is why we announced our strategy to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050 in response to the global challenges of climate change and its implications for Colombia and the region in which we operate.
Initiatives with a purpose: How we work for a more brilliant future
These are some of the ongoing initiatives that reduce emissions in our direct operations.
Reduce CO2 emissions
Photovoltaic power plant (Cañahuate l)
We are replacing 40% of the electricity used in our operations with photovoltaic energy.
Reduce CO2 emissions
Diesel-gasoline replacement
We are converting the fleet of light vehicles, buses and semi-trailers from diesel and gasoline to NGV.
Reduce CO2 emissions
Diesel replacement for mining trucks
We are evaluating LNG technology or the electrification of mining trucks.
Offsetting CO2 emissions
Photovoltaic power plant (Cañahuate ll and lll)
We plan to install and build additional photovoltaic power plants for commercial power generation, which will allow us to offset emissions via carbon credits.
